08: A Moment you felt most satisfied with life.
I forgot that I was working on this 30 day challenge...i'll continue.
A lot of people have different moments that not only take your breath away but gives you that feeling of being so content with life where no one could pull you down from sitting on top of the world. I've had my share of ups and downs along with different occassions that have given me the satisfaction of life, but this certain moment of my life definitely made me feel like i was unbreakable. So a moment that I've felt most satisfied with life? Well, the most satisfaction I've gotten out of was the recent job I just got.
With this whole economy bust, hours cut, school tuition raised, times have been a bit tough. I know there are people who have it way worse than I did/do and I like to live a bit more lavishly than others, which I won't deny, but money for a college student doesn't usually come easy. Referee hours was barely cutting it for me when in season and the extra time I had spent on my bed perusing useless crap online due to the one class on monday/wednesdays was not making me feel any more productive, so i figured i'd go out there and get myself a job and help my parents out a bit so they wouldn't have to pay for my little wants and needs. Last October, I applied to 12 jobs in and around the malls in San Jose and around 24 Physical therapy clinics. I didn't recieve ONE call/email/or text. Well excluding nordstroms but they didnt like my schedule. Then I got the nike interview which I blew and totally shattered my dreams. I felt like I was good for nothing and that this world was just as filthy as I thought it was because no one wanted me. Everyday I complained and vented to my roommate about how these other lame and lazy workers get a job and I'm over here, willing to work my butt off but can't get any love for a company still be unemployed. Well weeks and weeks passed and I got absolutely nothing.
Christmas arrived, which meant basketball was back in season! I could finally breathe knowing there was something in my wallet. And life as you know it...goes on, stopped job searching, reffed my butt off for the next couple months, and then....boom. I get a random call from a Texas area code while driving. And its the Boiling Crab general manager asking if i was still interested for a job with them at their new location. Didnt think anything of it, decided oh wtheck might as well try, if i get it, i get it. Whatever.
Day of the interview, i'm up all night not because I'm nervous but because I'm sick with a fever, runny nose, headache, sore throat, etc. Up at 5 am, shower at 6, wait for my friend to bring my clothes and shoes from the city, and my interviews at 10, and my friend never even shows up with my profesh looking clothes. I'm not looking forward to this interview. Heck, I didnt think I had any chance cause i didnt wear make up like all the girls that worked there. Eh, showed up.. was a whole nother character during the interview...added a couple of interesting fake information about myself..told them that everytime i went to BC i LOVED their customer service and always wanted to be their friends...i couldnt even remember a face when making that b.s. comment.. but went home and knocked right back out the rest of the day. Didnt even feel nervous, stressed, or scared about whether or not I got hired.
A week later, got a call back saying they wanted me as part of their team. Sweet baby jesus, I was STOKED. I've never more satisfied at that exact moment when they told me they hired me. I wasnt happy and stoked because I was now an official BOILING CRAB team employee, but because FINALLY, after searching for a job and the countless rejections, I finally feel worth to something, someone. I felt that all the hard work I put in the beginning finally worked out to it in the end. And what was more satisfying, was that I earned the job on my own with no hookups or connections through people.
I would have posted this entry when I first got the job, but with my parents strong disapproval and hatred against my decisions, I was in distraught and sadness. But times have rolled through and theyre ok now, which makes me fine and dandy. I couldn't have felt more satisfied receiving that call than anything. This whole story probably sounds like a whole stupid corny lame and dumb moment to you but when you accomplish something on your own after feeling unworthy of anything, that satisfaction will never feel the same.

restaurant biz part 5?
stupid blog spot is cracked out and wont let me space out my entry so to help make it easier on your eyes with a more smooth read i changed the color. anyway, am i on part 5? ugh whatevs, i cant remember nor am i too lazy to go back and check. but on another note, sorry bout the fat delay...been extra busy mentally and physically to thnk of or have time to write anything of good interest..or so i believe is interesting anyway. Nothing huge but after working in the restaurant biz, i thought i could share with you the inside scoop on some things. If you know where I work, good for you..if you don't maybe its better for you not to know. Top 10 Dirtiest things: (10, being the least dirty) 10. Crackers and shellers for the crabs. --Grant it people don't put their mouths on it and use it just to crack open the crabs, those things don't get washed very well or get washed at all. probably just a rinse. 9. Employee aprons- those things don't get washed often, so anything come out of them thats not capped ...ask for another one..politely of course. 8. Bathroom- self explanatory, but quick note--please cover your women menstruation ordeals with toilet paper. the last thing we want to see/ do is clean up your mess cause you didnt have the courtesy to cover it for us. 7. Dirty coworkers- the dirty coworkers who are hella lazy that when they bring you lemons and some of them drop, they just throw it back in the bag/bucket/corona, bibs drop on the floor they just pick it up and hand it to you, spoons/forks/knives fall on the floor- they'll just bring the same one to you. Because if you never see that i dropped it, you'll never know its dirty! =D 6. Butcher paper- the butcher paper is not as clean as it looks. Sometimes customers who want to sit at another table after being seated may have touched your butcher paper with their filthy hands or the host who butchered your paper doesnt have the courtesy to lift the butcher paper off the floor probably dragged or touched the floor with it while ripping it off or bringing it to your table. in other words, don't leave your bare food on the butcher paper..including ketchup. 5. Customers- the dirty customers that dine-n-dash on us, the dirty customers that give us fachichude for NO REASON, the dirty customers who can't make up their mind and change the order up after we punch it in and make us look bad when we have to correct it with the bo$$, and the dirty customers who tip us $1 for a $50+ meal. SMH. 4. Paper towels: always rip the first few paper towels off before using them. They fall on the dirty floor or may have previously been sitting in a puddle of sauce bag before you even came in. Rip them off, save yourself the grossness of the previous customers who didnt have any courtesy to put it aside so it wouldnt fall into their garbage. Then continue to rip, fold, and put aside your papertowels ready for your messy meal/experience. 3. Customers- i had to do it again..but another definition of dirty. The dirty customers who check the employees out in a dirty way and have the nerve to make a comment/remark/or joke about it to us, making us feel hella awkward. for ex: "can i ask you a question?...is there a rule here that you have to be cute to work here, cause i can definitely tell." -a 40+ father of two sons. 2. Tables/ chairs- leftover sauce on the booths/chairs/tables that arent wiped down. Oily fingers touching the chairs. They dont get wiped down enough...aka DONT WEAR YOUR NICEST CLOTHES there cause it will get ruined either by you eating messy or by default. 1. and the #1 dirtiest thing ...are the high chairs. It's a good thing (or bad) that our high chairs are black. Those things are filthy and oily and don't get the clean treatment that it should be getting. I wouldn't be surprised if a kid got sick off sitting in the high chairs. You've sacrificed so much for your child, you might as well sacrifice the whole food experience and sit you child on your lap than sitting your child on the doirty doirty high chair. There ya have it. The Top 10 dirtiest things about my restaurant. But hopefully you look past our flaws even though its hard for me to because its the beauty inside that matters. Or in this case its the taste that matters, not what you see. so IF you really want to know where this happens at, shoot me a comment and i'll think about letting you know...if youre not the health dpt.

The "New" generation
No restaurant biz part whatever number I'm on for todays post, just some two cents thought of hilariousness-ridiculousness of things or thing I heard from one of my friends this week. I hope she doesn't kill me for putting this story on blast but I thought it was a huge reality check for me (and some others) but i won't put her name on blast. Anyway,......
She was explaining to me how she caught some disease, actually I'm not even really sure what they call it these days but in actual terms or "medical" terms I should say, she got gonnorhea. Of anyones first reaction, of course it would be in total shock being tested positive for such a horrendous STD. So when she found out she was tested positive for the STD, she was in shock, panic, frightened, nervous, etc.. you get the point and most of all in tears. The funny part was when the dr. on the other end told her that she was blah blah etc. etc. and then ended on the most nonchalant note/tone of voice saying "and oh yea, you were tested positive for gonnorhea" in case you missed that last part let me translate for that for you in today's "new generation" explanation.... "blah blah blah etc etc...you have contracted gonnorhea, no big deal" My friend is going crazy in humiliation and asking him why he's saying it so calmly and telling her like its no big deal? And then he replies.......
..."Oh its nothing to worry about, GONNORHEA IS AS COMMON as the COMMON COLD."
Now I dont know about you but THAT is DISGUSTING and I sure don't ever want to contract an STD, think its nothing, and is just as common as a cold. People these days need to seriously clean themselves up, they cant be thinking that being an undercover walking STD is the new Wiz Khalifa or whatever is in these days to you to be walking around passing it to people like free $$$. I know technology is all great and dandy and can cure your STD (other than aids and herpes) with just a shot in the ass, but please please please handle your biz. If gonnorhea is as common as a cold, at this rate in ten years, we'll all be walking STD's. Save me the tears and stress, but I want to see Jesus STD -free.

fearful
This video clip in Japan where the world is literally cracking and falling apart right under his own eyes is freaky as hell. I personally hate earthquakes and is deathly afraid of them, I hope everyone in Japan can recover through this and know that the world is right by them with support. Anyway check out this vid, it'll def open your eyes and make you go a little insane..ok exaggeration, but check it anyway. Im not a believer in the world ending in 2012, but this video....is questionable.
