The "New" generation

No restaurant biz part whatever number I'm on for todays post, just some two cents thought of hilariousness-ridiculousness of things or thing I heard from one of my friends this week. I hope she doesn't kill me for putting this story on blast but I thought it was a huge reality check for me (and some others) but i won't put her name on blast. Anyway,......
She was explaining to me how she caught some disease, actually I'm not even really sure what they call it these days but in actual terms or "medical" terms I should say, she got gonnorhea. Of anyones first reaction, of course it would be in total shock being tested positive for such a horrendous STD. So when she found out she was tested positive for the STD, she was in shock, panic, frightened, nervous, etc.. you get the point and most of all in tears. The funny part was when the dr. on the other end told her that she was blah blah etc. etc. and then ended on the most nonchalant note/tone of voice saying "and oh yea, you were tested positive for gonnorhea" in case you missed that last part let me translate for that for you in today's "new generation" explanation.... "blah blah blah etc etc...you have contracted gonnorhea, no big deal" My friend is going crazy in humiliation and asking him why he's saying it so calmly and telling her like its no big deal? And then he replies.......
..."Oh its nothing to worry about, GONNORHEA IS AS COMMON as the COMMON COLD."

Now I dont know about you but THAT is DISGUSTING and I sure don't ever want to contract an STD, think its nothing, and is just as common as a cold. People these days need to seriously clean themselves up, they cant be thinking that being an undercover walking STD is the new Wiz Khalifa or whatever is in these days to you to be walking around passing it to people like free $$$. I know technology is all great and dandy and can cure your STD (other than aids and herpes) with just a shot in the ass, but please please please handle your biz. If gonnorhea is as common as a cold, at this rate in ten years, we'll all be walking STD's. Save me the tears and stress, but I want to see Jesus STD -free.

fearful

This video clip in Japan where the world is literally cracking and falling apart right under his own eyes is freaky as hell. I personally hate earthquakes and is deathly afraid of them, I hope everyone in Japan can recover through this and know that the world is right by them with support. Anyway check out this vid, it'll def open your eyes and make you go a little insane..ok exaggeration, but check it anyway. Im not a believer in the world ending in 2012, but this video....is questionable.

love stanks.

"...It's funny how we can be so overprotected with our friends, yet be so wide open with our own hearts. How much easier it is to be strong for another person rather than yourself. How effortless it is to give advice we just can't seem to take. We wish we could take one for the team, so that others can learn from our mistakes and we never have to see the people that we love get hurt. But one can't truly feel victory unless they run the race themselves. " -an excerpt from a post from my alltime fave abi.

restaurant biz: part III

Finally got in a shift today and after working today, I just want to let everyone know that reads this that CHINESE people are NOT the only cheapo's. However, I don't disagree that they aren't cheapo's.

I was serving today and I had a group of Filipinos and Latinos (don't mean to call out the race, but it only helps my story) and the group of filipno's order cost $90.00 plus couple change...and I KNOW FOR A FACT I served them pretty swell and gave them at LEAST A service if not A+..and they pay me in ca$h and tell me to keep the change..then had the nerve to ask me.. IS FIBE (5) DOLLARS ENOUP (enough) TEEPPS (tips) POR (for) YOU? uhm, first off just my opinion..i wouldnt even have known if you didnt tell me dummy. but of course, i had to suck it up and give them a fat smile and say "OH yea, thats fine." what were they really expecting me to say? CHEAPOS!

Towards the end of the night I help out this Latin Family, give em' my full attention and service since they were the last ones and it wasnt so busy. No complaints or attitudes thrown around, very friendly. Check came out to about $84 something so they tip me.. except these LAZY people dont want to use their brain so they call me over and tell me to subtract for them $90.00 (which was the total of the check that included their "tip") from $84. REALLY? they only tipped me 6 bucks! first of all the can't even subtract 90-84 and then only tip me less than half! Lord, I pray hard for their infant kids. CHEAPOS!

.....and my dad tries to convince me that this job is "NBR" aka no brain required. RUDE!

So there you have it, watch yaself and dont go throwin around that Chinese people are the only cheapos out there!

The Paradox of our Time.

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships.

These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember, to spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever. Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave

your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, "I love you" to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person might not be there again. Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

Restaurant Biz Part II:

Im back at it again..not with the same stories, but i do want to mention that those two parties that i complained about in part I actually came in everyday friday- monday and gave us trouble. But whatever people will always be people and the world goes on..

Since we just opened, i decided to check up on the our yelp reviews. HILARIOUS were some and others...well agreeable with service. The whole entire staff/team/crew is brand spankin new might I add quite a few lazy girls who I have no clue got the job, either the make up or the mouth piece..but this one yelper definitely yelped it pretty well despite I don't know exactly which one he's talking about, I wouldn't doubt that this really happened. Heres an excerpt on the review of the service:

"Now the main reason why I am giving it 1-star is for the service. HORRIBLE service. First and foremost, when asking our waitress questions about the food, she did not know the answers. Its not that she was new because she went and asked another employee and none of them knew the approximate amount of clams in a 1-lb order. We also kept asking how hot/mild the sauce was and her answers were always "I can't say". Very unhelpful. The food took about 20 minutes to arrive, and it turns out she forgot to place our order!!! So she went back to place our order again and we had to wait another 10 minutes or so - so we had been sitting there for 30 minutes with no food. I would've thought that because of this oversight we would've been offered free drinks or just something to make-up for the oversight, but nothing was offered. On another note, they charge 25 cents for a glass of water which I find ridiculous. Last but not least, more than 1/2 of our clam order came with shells only and no clams inside. We tried to tell the waitress/manager but they said there is nothing they could do? HORRIBLE SERVICE!

Last but not least, we got the bill and noticed that an 18% gratuity had been added to our check!!! There were 5 of us in our party and according to the menu, an 18% gratuity will be added to parties of 6 or more. We called the waitress on it and she said "well there is 5 of you that's almost 6". WTF??? Are you serious???? We were livid after this. We ended up having to talk to the manager about the 18% gratuity and he did apologize and remove it, but I thought it was ridiculous.

We will never eat at this place again. "

--ok, first of all.. not to be already baggin on my co-workers but really? "theres 5 of you thats almost 6"... HAHAHAHA welcome to the boiling crab, land of crabby workers. Now I know why my tips is not on par with my first day. SMH!
